The goal of this project is to create work for 100 local women in handicrafts within a year.
In cooperation with a local designer and wholesaler, the women will be trained to produce specific stiching methods, designs and patterns which have a long historical tradition and are especially marketable in within Kashmir and geographically close, major markets like Islamabad. They will also be granted loans for their machines and raw materials
In addition, the women will be trained in business skills like procurement, planning, and basic accounting, and they will be supported in setting up a local shop for their products
